Marlow Edgar Jurisch, 84, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015. He was born April 1, 1931, at the family homestead on Kube Table near Scenic, SD. He was the third son of Clarence and Goldie Jurisch. He attended Kube Table Grade School; then graduated from Brookings Ag College in 1950. Joanne Klien became his beloved wife on March 31, 1951. That fall he enlisted in the US Navy to proudly serve in the Korean War. After four years in California, he returned home to raise a family, Galloway cattle, and blue heeler dogs. Throughout the years he was an active member of the Galloway Association and an avid participant of 4-H and national livestock shows. Retiring from ranching in 1972, they owned and operated three businesses: The Anchor Bar & Lounge, The Branding Iron, and The Crystal Bar. During this time he lobbied and served on the SD Liquor Board. Marlow participated in "Old Timers" rodeo and judged numerous SDRA and NRCA rodeos. Because of health issues, he and Joanne started a new venture called M & J Auctions and Wyndhaven Kennels consisting of Jack Russel champion dogs. With the loss of his wife in 2009, he sold the kennels. Marlow kept active with attending auctions, old timer's gatherings, rodeos, and country music tours. On Sept. 17, 2011, he exchanged vows with Dorothy Bruhn of Rapid City. Marlow was recognized in 2013 for his dedication to the Western Jr. Livestock Show and 4-H youths. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy and children Max Jurisch, Rapid City, Ruth (Dan) Filipek, Fort Pierre, Martin (Pat) Jurisch, Hereford, Ellen (Mirl) Searles, Piedmont, Russell (Linda) Jurisch, Shreveport, LA, Sueann (Chris) Trigg, Sioux Falls, Nola (Rob) Morgan, Sioux Falls, and Justin Jurisch, Redfield His legacy of the "two and a half dozen kids" continues to live on through numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife. Joanne and brothers, Duard and Lewis Jurisch. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., wityh 7 p.m. Christian wake services today at St. Isaac Joques Catholic Church. Christian Funeral Mass, with the Rev. Ron Seminara, SJ presiding, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at St. Isaac Jogues Church. Interment with, military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the Navy Honor Guard will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery.
