Obituary

RAPID CITY - Marrion Eva Page Smith, 87, Rapid City, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at a Rapid City Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 27, 1922, at Willits, CA, the daughter of Charles F. and Laura V. (McCabe) Page. Marrion graduated from Willits High School in 1939 and then received vocational technical training in IBM and secretarial science. She married Charles F. Smith on Feb. 16, 1946. She was employed with IBM as a keypunch operator and a secretary for many years. She was also a homemaker. Marrion had many interests and activities throughout her life. Her talent for living allowed her to make a home in every place she lived. Her most important attributes were her deep love for her family, friends, church and country. Survivors include two sons, David Smith and his wife Patti, Rapid City, and Dennis Smith and his wife Sherry, Nemo; a daughter, Charlene Smith, Rapid City; five grandchildren, Chandra Smith-Lontz and her husband John, Greeley, CO, Dylan Smith and Calen Smith, both of Fort Collins, CO, Jennifer McRae and her husband Ian, Denver, and Charles Smith, Rapid City; one great-grandchild, Marrion Jane, Rapid City; a brother, James C. Page, Benicia, CA; and lifelong friend, Florine Anders, Greeley. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bob Jacobs officiating. Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 15, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Memorials have been established for the Westminster Presbyterian Church and Rushmore VFW Post 1273.
