Obituary

RAPID CITYMarshall F. Smallbrock, 63, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 27, 2013. Marshall was born in Rochester, MN, to Loren and Barbara (Stiller) Smallbrock. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester in 1967, attended technical school in Austin, MN for a year and entered the Air Force in 1969. He served in Florida, Vietnam, and Germany. In 1973 he was married to Adell Silloway. She was also serving in the Air Force and they served together in New Jersey, England, Omaha and Ellsworth Air Force Base. He retired from the Air Force at Ellsworth as a Tech Sgt. in 1989 . He started his career as an aircraft mechanic and at the time of his retirement he was in plant maintenance plans and scheduling. He then was employed in Rapid City for Merillat Cabinet Factory for 18 years and was most recently with Rapid Taxi. Marshall loved motorcycles, especially riding in the Black Hills. He also enjoyed old movies and he had a story for every occasion. Survivors include his wife, Adell Smallbrock, Rapid City; his mother, Barbara Smallbrock, Oronoco, MN; 3 sons, John (Lisa) Smallbrock, Rapid City, Robert (Alicia) Smallbrock, Washington, DC and David Smallbrock, Rapid City; a daughter, Margaret Smallbrock, Rapid City; 2 brothers, Arthur (Barbara) Smallbrock, Barrett, MN and his triplet brother, Myron (Rhalene) Smallbrock, Rochester, MN; a triplet sister, Madeleine Dunford, Fergus Falls, MN and 6 grandchildren, Shyla Barton and Monet and Hudson Smallbrock, all of Rapid City and Audrey, Elise and Nathaniel Smallbrock, all of Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by his father. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Chaplain (Ret.) H. B. Cleveland officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial, with military honors rendered by Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard, will be at 3:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery.
