Martha Joanne Groskopf was born June 8, 1944, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Ralph and Roberta Cloyd. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1962. She attended the University of Wyoming, graduating from the School of Nursing. In 1970, she married Lee Groskopf in Sheridan and they ultimately settled in Rapid City. She was a Registered Nurse at Medical Arts in Rapid City, working for Dr. Ray Strand and will always be remembered by those she worked with. Following her nursing career, Joanne spent time quilting and worked at the Quilt Connection in Rapid City until her death. She loved to sew, quilt, cross-stitch and read.
She is survived by her husband, Lee, son Michael Groskopf, her grandson, Chance, her granddaughter, Maddie, her brother, Bob Cloyd (Julie) of Sioux Falls, SD. Aunt JoJo was very much loved and will be missed by her nieces, Lisa and Kaci, and her nephews, Robb and Alex, and several cousins.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bob Jacobs officiating.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Love INC of the Black Hills, Westminster Presbyterian Church, or the Children's Home Society of South Dakota.
