HILL CITY--Mary June Cornelison, 76, died in Hill City on Saturday, December 19, 2009. Mary was born on June 19, 1933, in Salem, S.D. Daughter to James Lyle and Agusta (Vanheafte) Mock, sister of Gloria Mock (Slavin). The family moved to Canistota for a short time, then finally setteling in San Diego, CA, area. Mary graduated from La Jolla, CA High School in 1952. Immediately after she began persuing a nursing degree while employed as a telephone operator in Anehiem, CA. On November 25, 1953, she was married to Ronald Cornelison, Jr. They moved to the Deerfield Lake area in 1954 operating a ranch there and raising their four children until Ronalds sudden death in 1964. The family moved into Hill City and Mary was employed byUnited National Bank becoming the first female Branch Manager. Mary dedicated her life to her family and the community. She served Hill City in many capacities such as; mayor elect in the late 1980s and early 1990s, senior center meals on wheels, active volunteer senior sponsor and many other organizations, director of Youth Center, narrator of many Veterens day Memorial Ceremonies for the Auxillary. Employed by many local businesses such as; Forest Service Ranger Station, Chute Rooster Restaurant, Best Western Hotel, Rushmore Cafe, Rafter J, RMA, and many others. Mary served the St. Rose of Lima Parish as a dedicated member. She was extremely active in the events of her children, Michael (Terri) Cornelison, Ft. Pierre and Ronald (Linda) Cornelison and Jesse Shane (Vickie Millard) Cornelison, Hill City, Carolynn (Jefferson Davis, IV) Dulaney, Estancia, NM. Her twelve grandchildren, Barry, Joel, Jason, Keenan, Elizabeth, and Travis (Macie) Cornelison, Paul (Jane), Jeremiah (Brianna), Kendra, and Cory Partin, Mindy (Derick) Bennett, and Jefferson Davis Dulaney, V. Two great-grandchildren, Logan Sanchez and Bailey Ryan Partin. Her sister Gloria Slaven's daughter Monya. Her many special friends and family are Shirly Mc Daniel & Family (Calif.) Bob & Mary Lou & family ( Florida), Lloyd Partin (Calif.) Mary Kay McVey & Matt Harvy, Scott Millard, Mattie Jo Cosby, Kathy Cornelison, Scott Norman, Junior and Charlotte Compton, Lyla Lytle, Georgia McFarland and Shirley Hessman. Frank & Norma Henderson, Lance Federson family, Dale & Karen Gieman & family, Maiti Bertrand, Matkins family, Terry Mahan, George family, Burgraff family, Doc & Ginny Weith, and her many other family and friends that made her life so special Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 21, from 6 until 7 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7:00 p.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hill City. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hill City with Rev. Dan Juelfs presiding. Burial will follow in the Hill City Cemetery. Memorials have established for the Alzheimer's Association and the National Parkinson Foundation. The family would like the thank Home Health, Hospice and Hartmans at Rosehaven including their staff.
