Obituary

RAPID CITY--Mary E. Jackson , 59 passed on to Heaven, Monday, January 5,2009 at Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice House after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Mary was born in Jamestown, N.D., on August 4, 1949 to Bill and Evelyn Bettels. She and her family lived in Omaha, NE , Rapid City, and Sioux Falls , before returning to Rapid City in 1965. Mary graduated from Cathedral High School in 1967. On January 3, 1969 she and Tom Jackson were married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City. Mary graduated from National College of Business in 1970. The couple lived in Minneapolis MN, for a short time, returning to Rapid City in 1972. Mary is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas P. Jackson, daughter, Mandy Jo Hall and her husband Rob, grandchildren; Jules Madison Hall and Jackson Robert Hall, daughter, Melissa Kay Knight and her husband Craig, three sisters; Caroline Lowe and husband Jim, Trish Jackson and husband Phil, Ladonna Niemann and her husband, Ross, and her other brothers-in-law, David, George, Don, Keith , Kevin Jackson, their families, and her many , many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mary was an owner, office manager, and bookkeeper for A-l Auto Parts, their family business, for over 29 years . She was employed by the Rapid City Journal accounting dept. at the time of her illness. As a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Mary sang in the Chorus Angelorum Choir for over 30 years , was past president of the Marion Society, and was involved in many Church activities. Mary and Tom were members of the Dakota Corvette Club, Tom serving as president and Mary being the driving force behind their many fun activities . She truly enjoyed her red Corvette and loved all the friends they met through the club. She was also a member of the Black Hills Corvette club. A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2008 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 9 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Fr. Dan Juelfs presiding. Inurnment will follow the lunch at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City. A memorial has been established.
