Carefree, Az - Mary M. McClenahan, 98 of Carefree, AZ and a former resident of Scottsdale, AZ and Rapid City, SD passed away on September 6, 2014 of natural causes. Mary was 98 years old. Mary's life was truly a wonderful journey. She married William at the age of 24 and the early years of marriage were dedicated to family, and raising three children; Sam, Susan and Randy. It was a time of community and church activities, entertaining friends, and the enjoyment of music and ballroom dancing. In 1962 she embarked on a new adventure, and she and Bill bought the first of three motels in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She had entered the world of business, which to her was a world of new opportunities and challenges. In 1973 they returned to the Midwest and purchased their last motel in Rapid City, SD, where they retired. In 1991 she lost her beloved husband and business partner and her life took a different path. She eventually moved to Scottsdale, AZ, where she delighted in the city life and being with her daughter. As Mary reached that final stage of her life it was the love of family and the joy they brought that was her last and most beautiful dance. "Now we say goodbye and begin to remember not just that you are gone but that your life gave us memories too precious to forget." She leaves her daughter, Susan Spackman, two sons, Sam McClenahan and Randy McClenahan, granddaughters Beth, Margaret, and Kristen, grandsons Tom, Brandon, Matthew and Patrick, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouse, William James McClenahan in 1991 and her grandson, Jarad Spackman in 2012. Mary was also preceded in death by her 6 brothers and sisters Rueben, Elmer, Evelynn, Donald, Lorraine, Dorothy and her father and mother William and Theresa Hutmacher. Christian funeral mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, September 13 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4500 Jackson Boulevard with visitation starting at 9:00 am. Burial will follow at Mt.
