Marye Etta Currier, formerly of Rapid City, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Canton. Marye Etta De Bauche was born on May 2, 1926, in Huron, SD, to Joseph and (Mary) Zelma De Bauche. She was raised in Cavour, where she graduated from high school in 1944. She married Forrest R. Currier on March 17, 1945, in Fortuna, CA. They had 3 children, Sheryn, Douglas and (Mary) Jo. Marye and Forrest made their home in California and Minnesota before moving to Bryant, where they spent 20 years, before moving to Rapid City in 1977. While in Bryant, Marye worked at the post office, and after moving to the Black Hills, she was employed at the commissary at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Marye volunteered as an English tutor, played cards in several card clubs. She loved the color red, wearing hats, playings cards, playing the piano, singing, dancing, crocheting, playing Bingo, traveling with Forrest and especially, laughing with her sister, Lola. Marye was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Zelma, siblings, Edna, George, Helen, Russel, Bud (Ralph) and Lola; her husband Forrest in 1994; daugher, Sheryn Just and grandson Jay Weelborg. She is survived by her son and daugher-in-law Douglas and Charlotte Currier; daughter, Jo Currier-Brace; sons-in-law, Cary Brace and Tim Just; grandchildren, Barbara Anderson (Rod), Sarah Hanson (Bernie), Amanda Borrall (Jeff), Tom Currier (Kelly), Doug Weelborg (Wendy), T J Just (Kirsten), Alexandra Brace, Luisa Brace; great-grandchildren, Jacob Anderson, Kaleb Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Emma Hanson, Olivia Hanson, Taylor Weelborg, Payton Weelborg and several nieces and nephews. Visitation with family present will be from 11a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21, at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, with a prayer service following at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec, 22, at South Canyon Lutheran Church in Rapid City with Pastor Bruce Thalacker officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A lunch will be served at the church following the burial.
