Matthew Tanner "Matt" Scott, 35, died March 11, 2018.
Matt was born on June 21, 1982, in Rapid City, to Don and Nancy (Freese) Scott. He grew up in Pasadena, CA, Havelock, NC, Okinawa, Japan, El Paso, TX, and Rapid City, where he called home for 20 years.
Matt graduated from Stevens High School in 2001 and completed the Professional Truck Driving Program from WDTI in March 2007.
Matt was an avid book reader, reading anything he could get his hands on. His favorites included anime and fantasy books. He loved video games of all kinds. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and would never pass up a good meal with good company. Matt worked part time for Martin Jurisch Auction Company. He was a die-hard University of North Carolina Tarheel basketball fan and a Green Bay Packer fan.
Matt will be remembered for many things, but especially his love for everyone. He never had a bad word to say and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a heart of gold and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry (Therese) Freese and paternal grandparents, Don (Ruth) Scott.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy Freese Scott; father, Don (Linda) Scott; brothers, Nate (Erin) Scott and Luke (Brooke) Scott; sister, Jes Scott, stepbrother, David McKeen, and stepsister, Emily McKeen, all of Rapid City. He was an uncle to many. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
