Obituary

RAPID CITY--Maybelle A. Quintus, 72, passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, July 9, 2010. She was born on May 24, 1938, in Fort Benton, Montana, to Arnold and Hildegarde (Reicks) Kotthoff. She grew up in rural Shonkin, Montana on the family ranch. She graduated from Central High School in Great Falls in 1955. On July 3, 1956, she was united in marriage to Jerry Quintus. The couple made their home in California and eventually settled in Rapid City in 1966. Maybelle was a medical secretary for Dr. Slingsby, OBGyn, Dr. Whitney's pediatrician practice, Dr. Stocks at the Medical Center and was currently with Dr. Dale Anderson. She loved to travel, play cards and her dog, Nick. Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra R. Rice, Rapid City and Shelly A. (Trent) Sack, Rapid City and Center, ND; a son, James E. (Roxane) Quintus, Rapid City; 2 sisters, Joan Burrey and Janet (John) Connolly, all of Great Falls, Mont.; a brother, Arnold (Renee) Kotthoff, Shonkin, Mont.; 10 grandchildren, Christie, Steven, Justin, Jillian, Bradley, Zachary, Eric, Remi, Callen and Kloe; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Doug Engum. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, with a Christian wake service following at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 12, at the Church of St. Therese with Rev. William Zandri presiding. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Hills, 224 Elk St., Rapid City, SD, 57701.
