It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Mercedes Rivera Sanchez, on November 23rd, 2024. She was 101; born on September 23rd, 1923 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Mercedes lived a full and vibrant life. She was the loving wife of Antonio Salas Ortiz, who predeceased her by 34 years. Together, they raised a family of 11 children who will forever cherish her memory. Mercedes was a devoted homemaker, who took great pride in caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and seamstress, known for her delicious meals and her beautiful needlework. In her free time, Mercedes enjoyed reading her bible, sewing, listening to music, and watching the latest novela or episode of Caso Cerrado. Mercedes was a woman of great faith who devoted her life to God for many years. She was a kind and generous soul who always put others before herself. Her family and friends will remember her for her warm smile and unwavering love.

Mercedes is survived by her children, Ruben, Rafael, Jaime, Luis, Richard, Angel, Hector, Luz, and Maria. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, and countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and nieces.

A funeral service will be held on December 2nd, 2024 at 1:00pm at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, address 2700 Jackson Blvd, Rapid City SD. Funeral procession will proceed the service.

Con gran pesar anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida Mercedes Rivera Sánchez el 23 de noviembre de 2024. Tenía 101 años; Nacida el 23 de septiembre de 1923 en Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Mercedes vivió una vida plena y vibrante. Fue la amada esposa de Antonio Salas Ortiz, quien falleció 34 años antes que ella. Juntos formaron una familia de 11 hijos que siempre atesorarán su memoria. Mercedes era una ama de casa devota y se enorgullecía de cuidar a su familia. Era una cocinera y costurera excepcional, conocida por sus deliciosas comidas y sus hermosos bordados. En su tiempo libre, Mercedes disfrutaba leer la Biblia, coser, escuchar música y ver la última novela o episodio de Caso Cerrado. Mercedes fue una mujer de gran fe que dedicó su vida a Dios durante muchos años. Era un alma amable y generosa que siempre anteponía a los demás a ella misma. Su familia y amigos la recordarán por su cálida sonrisa y su amor inquebrantable.

A Mercedes le sobreviven sus hijos, Rubén, Rafael, Jaime, Luis, Richard, Ángel, Héctor, Luz y María. También le sobreviven 32 nietos e innumerables nietos, bisnietos, primos, y sobrinas.

Se llevará a cabo un funeral el 2 de diciembre de 2024 a la 1:00 p.m. en Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, dirección 2700 Jackson Blvd, Rapid City SD. La procesión fúnebre continuará el servicio.
