Meryl Ann Olsen, 85, died Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Clarkson Health Care Center. Meryl was born August 14, 1929, in Aberdeen to Ken and Ann Lewis. She graduated high school from Brookings and worked at SDSU for two years before she married Tom Moe. Meryl and Tom adopted two beautiful daughters and delighted in raising them. Tom died in 1981, in Albert Lea, MN. Meryl moved to Rapid City shortly after and worked for Gray Line Travel until 1994, when she married Maurie Olsen. She credited surviving three heart valve replacement surgeries, cancer and several other life challenges, to her Lord and excellent medical care. She is survived by her husband, Maurie Olsen; daughter, Barbara Moe, grandson, Brandon Mulder and his son, Colton; sister, Karen (De) Benson; brother, Perry (Judy) Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. Meryl was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Mulder; brother, Neil Lewis; and sister, Jane Sunderland. Memorial services will be led by Pastor David Piper and Chaplain Herb B. Cleveland at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 5311 Sheridan Lake Road. Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A "Meryl's Fund" has been established at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City.
