Obituary

Rapid City Michael R. Brouillette, Sr. 56, Rapid City died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Mike was born on September 18, 1953 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Raymond and Loretta [Calvey] Brouillette, the fourth of five children. He grew up in Taunton, Massachusetts and graduated from Taunton High School in 1972 where he lettered 4 years in football and baseball. He attended Yankton College in Yankton, SD where he met his wife, Terry Bertsch. They were married on June 5, 1976 in Rapid City, SD where Mike then began his 34-year teaching career. Mike was also a dedicated middle school coach, coaching football, wrestling, basketball, and track. He also served as the Athletic Director at North Middle School. Mike was a well-loved and respected teacher and coach and took pride in his profession. His family was the most important part of his life. Mikes other loves included fishing, riding bike, driving through the Hills he loved, going to Deadwood, Friday night football games, and tailgate parties. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Terry A. Brouillette, Rapid City; two sons, Michael R. Brouillette Jr., Rapid City and Eric D. Brouillette, New Haven, Ct.; two sisters, Patricia Guay, Lutz, Florida and Adele Faria, Burnsville Mn; one brother, Raymond Butch Brouillette, Thompson Ct.; father and mother in law, Bill and Vivian Dittmer, Rapid City and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Loretta (Calvey) Brouillette and one sister Michele Bedard. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 27 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at First Congregational Church with Rev. Dr. Ted Huffman officiating. There will also be a Memorial Service on Thursday April 29 at 2:00 PM at North Middle School in the Gymnasium. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Rapid City. A memorial has been established.
