Rapid City, South Dakota – Michael Lee Hodge, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and proud great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the age of 72. He was born on December 12, 1952.
Michael dedicated 18 years of his life in service to his country in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable military career, he transitioned to a civilian career, moving to Vero Beach, Florida, where he diligently worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his well-deserved retirement.
In retirement, Michael and his beloved wife, Brenda, embarked on a new chapter filled with joy and adventure. They shared a passion for travel, creating countless memories on Disney Cruises and truly embracing life to the fullest. Above all, Michael lived for his family, finding his greatest joy in their presence and celebrating every milestone alongside them.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, and his oldest son, Scott Hodge.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Hodge; his devoted children, Terri Paulin and her husband John, and Holly Hodge. Michael's legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Andrew Paulin and his wife Katie, Jessie Freeman and her husband Justin, and Lyric Hodge; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Johnny and Jamie Freeman.
A memorial service to celebrate Michael's life will be held on May 27, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Black Hills National Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1273.
