Michael T. "Todd" Paananen, 54, of Rapid City, died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He was born on May 15, 2017 in Rapid City to Wayne and El Marie (Opitz) Paananen. He grew up in Rapid City and Becker, MN, attending his last two years of high school at Stevens in Rapid City.

Michael was self-employed as a carpenter and then employed by Steam Cleaning Specialists up until his diagnosis.

He was a founding member of "Mesa Drive Band" in 1996.

He enjoyed music, tinkering, riding his Harley and watching the fireworks at the Open Cut in Lead with his Dad.

He is survived by his son, Dylan Paananen, daughter in Law, Becky Paananen, grandchildren, Ayden Uecker, Jaxon Paananen and Otto Paananen, his girlfriend, Pamela Bayman, and his father, Wayne (LeeAnn) Paananen.

A Memorial service has been scheduled for Thursday August 31, 2017 at 10:00am at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established by the family.
