Mildred M. "Millie" Hansen, 92, of Rapid City, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Golden Living Prairie Hills Living Center.

Millie was born on the family farm in Spink County on October 5, 1923 to Andrew and Agnes (Baker) Hansen. She worked on the farm by raising ducks, geese, Turkey and chickens. She also worked her vegetable garden. At eighteen, Mildred left the family farm after graduating Benford Consolidated School and went to work for the telephone operator and in the general store in Strafford, SD. In the 1940's, Millie moved to Rapid City and worked at Ben Franklin and F.W. Woolworth as a clerk. She retired from Woolworth in 1988.

Mildred moved to Golden Living Prairie Hills in 2005. She enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting and raising African violets. Last October, she gave all of her African violets to the South Canyon Lutheran Church bazaar to help raise money for the kids.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at South Canyon Lutheran Church beginning at noon on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday at South Canyon Lutheran Church with Pastor Bruce Thalacker officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the South Canyon Lutheran Church Eunice Circle and to child care at the church.
