Rapid City - Mildred Theresa "Millie" Iott, 88, went to her eternal rest surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Rapid City Regional Auxiliary Hospice House. She was born on January 2, 1926 in Somerville, Massachusetts. Millie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is a staunch member of the greatest generation and a patriot through and through. She loved her family and enjoyed a delightful sense of humor. She was extremely compassionate and generous towards veteran organizations. Millie was famous for her gift to yodel and entertain her family and friends. She is survived by her son Pete Iott [wife Patricia] of Savannah, GA and her daughter Linda Bickford of Rapid City; four grandchildren: Pete II [wife Amy], Paula, John, and Steven; and five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Melissa, Trey, Nicholas, and Austin. She was preceded in death by her father James MacNeill, mother Mary Zita [Poirier] MacNeill, sister Gladys Arsenault, and her husband George Fred Iott, World War II and Vietnam veteran and POW. A private ceremony will be held at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home and interment will be with her beloved husband in the Black Hills National Cemetery. Memorials may be given in memory of Millie to the Rapid City Regional Auxiliary Hospice House where she spent her final days with wonderful, dignified care.
