Mona Peters was born on May 2, 1945 in Texas to Robert and Dena (Hubard) Donahey. Three months after she was born her family moved to Newell, South Dakota where she was raised. She graduated from Newell High School in 1963 shortly after she moved to Rapid City, South Dakota where she married Marvin "Pepper" Peters on February 3, 1964 and also gave birth to their only child, Link Peters on March 5, 1964.
She worked at the Rapid City Journal for 22 years then she worked at Active Data for 14 years, she also worked at the Rapid City school district for 12 years. She was an active member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles and served on the Auxiliary Board for over 25 years.
Mona is survived by her brother Gary Donahey (Connie) of Newell, South Dakota; four grandchildren: Seferina Arguello-Larvie, Amanda Clifford, Julia Peters and Link Peters; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and also by four nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin "Pepper" Peters, her sister, Nina (Gary) Donahey Sprague; her son, Link Robert Peters, her grandson, Levi Peters as well as her parents.
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6 at Black Hills National Cemetery.
