Obituary

RAPID CITY - Nadine Lorraine Bauer passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, after a long and tiring battle with cancer. She was born April 12, 1958, in Butler, Pennsylvania to Lawrence A. Bauer and Mary O'Dea Bauer. She was surrounded by family and her closest friends in her final moments. Nadine will always be remembered as a loving and caring person. She always thought of others in their difficult times, and always had a gift, a card, or kind words of encouragement to give. She was a hard worker, and always worked to improve herself at work and at home. She always had a plan for life, and was always optimistic. Even in the final days of her life, she was speaking about what she would do when she got home. Co-workers will remember her for her jokes, and the laughter she brought with her. Her smile was infectious and could fill the whole room. Her children will remember her as the one we ran to when nightmares struck for comfort, and the one who we called on rainy days when we were sad. And her mother will remember her as the daughter who was her best friend and greatest joy. Nadine enjoyed scrap-booking, going out to lunch with friends, and watching Disney and Pixar movies. She loved flowers, and every spring, she would get some flowers to plant outside. She took great pride in her home, and every Christmas would work to put the Christmas lights up and say, "Our house looks awesome." And of course, she adored her dog Lucy Belle, whom she loved dearly. But her greatest delights were Shawn and Ryan, the kids who she and her Mother, Mary, babysat. She was known by the endearing name, "Nay-Nay", and they always brought a smile to her face. She couldn't wait to get home from work to see them, and their joy and laughter will forever ring in our hearts. Nadine was survived by her daughter, Justina Bauer, Lincoln, Neb.; her son, Anthony Bauer, and her mother, Mary Bauer, Rapid City. Visitation will be 4 p.m., to 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 12, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a 7 p.m.,Christian Wake Service at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City with the Rev. Michel Mulloy presiding. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City. A memorial fund will be established to provide for Nadine's final care and rest.
