Nancy I. Bradsky, 84, of Rapid City, died Sunday, September 1, 2019 at a local health care facility.
She was born on February 28, 1935 in Omaha, NE to Sydney and Edna (Fulton) Smith. She was raised in Omaha, graduating from South High School with honors in 1952 where she was active in numerous school, charity and social organizations. Her high analytical skills led her to a job where she met Charles J. Bradsky, Jr. and on May 4, 1963, they were married in Omaha.
Nancy and Charles moved to Rapid City and with his family started the Gateway Bowling Lanes. Nancy and Charles lost their home and the family bowling alley in the 1972 flood.
Undeterred and through their faith, she and Charles started the real estate company, Commercial Brokers in the mid 70's and founded Polar Ice Company in 1985.
Nancy was a devout Christian and lived her faith. She was very active in the Church, serving on the Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters, and with Charles, the initial organization of Mayfest, the annual auction for Catholic Schools and all that encompassed, and spent time volunteering for Women Against Violence, Meals on Wheels and the Dahl Fine Arts Center. Nancy will be remembered as a forgiving person, reserved and quiet and withheld judgement. She and Chuck instilled their faith in their children.
Nancy is survived by her children; Charles (Jennifer) Bradsky, Crown Point, Indiana, Anne Marie (Rivkah) Bradsky, South Carolina, Mark (Angela) Bradsky, Rapid City and Mary Jo (Chris) Beltzer, Anchorage, Alaska, grandchildren; Victoria, Alex, Allie, Sydney, Emma, Jack and Henry and her brother; Jerry Smith, Winterset, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, in 1998 and their son, Patrick in 1971.
A visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, September 6, 2019 with Christian Vigil and Recitation of the Rosary to be held at 6:00 pm at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 7 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church followed by inurnment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial will be established to the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Rita #916.
