RAPID CITY | Nannette Renee "Nan" Naumann, 79, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015. Nannette was born August 18, 1935, in Minneapolis to Clyde and Etta Anderson. She grew up in South Minneapolis, where she spent free time at Lake Nokomis, Minnehaha Falls and Park and Longfellow Library with her friends and her sister Lois. She attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. Her parents moved to Rapid City after she graduated and Nan 'came along to see what the town was like'. Nan met William "Buck" Naumann, a young man from Penn, PA, stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. After a few years of a fun-filled courtship, they were married on April 30, 1958, and spent the next 57 years together as best friends. They were blessed with two sons, Michael "Mike" and Nicholas "Nick." Nan was a creative mother who enriched her family's lives through many craft projects, cooking and gardening. Nan was a strong animal lover and the house was always blessed with a dog as the fifth member of the family. Nan worked as a telephone operator and service assistant for almost 30 years at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and all its iterations until the office in Rapid City closed. Not one to sit still in retirement, Nan worked part time at Haggerty's department store and then at Books and Things. Reading over 200 books a year, Nan developed a regular following of loyal customers who looked forward to her recommendations. Nan's passion were her family and friends, her faith, her roses, a good mystery, shopping for a bargain, card club dates with the gals, trips to Pennsylvania and back to Minneapolis to visit family and friends, and the occasional visit to Deadwood to try her luck. Nan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend with a kind and generous heart. Her greatest concern was for her family and friends she was always there to offer advice, assistance and a listening ear. She will be missed terribly and loved eternally by her family and friends. A special thank you to Doctor Kelly Stacy for her outstanding medical expertise and friendship to Nan and family; especially during her battle these last few months with bone marrow disease. And thank you for the amazing care and compassion shown by the ICU 6NE staff at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Nannette was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, William "Buck"; children, Mike (Julie) and Nick (Joe); granddaughters, Nicolle Naumann-Burr (Chris) and Natasha; great-grandchildren, Delilah and Maddox Burr; sister, Lois (Hank) Cremisino of Roseville, MN; along with nieces and nephews; loving brother and sisters-in-law from Pennsylvania, Dorothy (Al) and Jean and Joe; and her Schnauzer, Greta.
