Neal Worden, age 80, passed away Tuesday April 25th at Monument Health Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Neal is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy, and two daughters, Debi (Ric) and Jeannie, Two grandchildren, Halley and Ian, and two great grandchildren Riley and Spencer.
Neal proudly served in the Air Force for 21 years as a medical technician and helicopter flight crewmember. He earned 2 commendation medals and 1 air medal for missions flown over North Vietnam.
When Neal left the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant he pursued a career as a medical coder. He worked for Rapid City Regional Hospital and then traveled the country as an independent contractor.
Neal was born in Wolf Point Montana to Evelyn (Becky) Harlow and Stewart Worden. Growing up in Montana and Northern Idaho, Neal developed a love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He often related stories of the time he spent with his stepfather, Russell Miller. His love of the outdoors carried over into his work with Boy Scout Troop 72 and Big Brothers/Big Sisters and his travels. Fishing trips to Alaska with friends and family were among his favorites. In his retirement, he also volunteered at Rapid City Regional Hospital assisting families.
Neal was a dedicated, loyal veteran, proud of his country and family. Neal was committed to helping others through organ donation.

His Memorial Burial Service will be at 1:00 pm Friday, May 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD with Full Military Honors provided by Ellsworth Air Force Base 28 th Bomb Wing Honor Guard. Meet at the front gate at 12:50 pm.
