PIEDMONT | Nelda Jane Searles, 84, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015. She was born Jan. 6, 1931, in Roswell, NM, to Eliza (Parker) Kimel and Leniel Kimmel. She gave her life to our Lord and in doing so entered college and attended Life Bible College, where she met and married her husband Mirl E. Searles, of Parsons, Kan., on April 6, 1952. This past April 6, marked 63 blessed years of marriage. Their marriage was a celebration of life that included raising five children, Mirl A. (Ellen) Searles of Piedmont, Jeffrey S. Searles (deceased), Pamela K. Coltrain (Searles) of Sharpsburg, GA, Judith D. (Lynn) Richardson of Lake Hughes, CA, and Renee L. Searles of Lancaster, CA. Nelda and her husband Mirl were both 4 Square Ministers over the course of their marriage serving churches in Iowa, Indiana, California, South Dakota, Colorado, Missouri and Kansas since 1953. She never really retired her ministerial duties, as she remained active in many women's ministries, church organizations and youth ministries. Nelda was active in a variety of worship teams playing the organ, the accordion, the piano and the marimba over the course of her serving the church. She was an artist in her own right studying the art of tole painting' wherein she made some of the most beautiful pieces of art work we are all in possession of. Her hobbies included being a seamstress making many articles of clothing for not only her husband and children, but also for her grandchildren. She loved the outdoors and driving through the hills looking at God's beauty in His landscape. Survivors include her husband Mirl, her children and their spouses, grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Nelda was preceded in death by Eliza (mother), Linnell (father), Larry (brother), Wilma (sister), Jeff (son) and Joseph Daniel (grandson). Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday Sept., 23, at Black Hills Fellowship, 3394 Marvel Mountain Road, Rapid City. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
