RAPID CITY- Norman J. "Norm" Gary, 82, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 28, 1929, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Jefferson and graduated from Trinity High School in Sioux City. He participated in the Golden Gloves Boxing Program. Norm married Marilyn Yestness on Feb. 29, 1949, in Jefferson. He was employed as a Milkman for the Fairmont Dairy in 1950, and in 1956 he was the youngest plant manager for the Fairmont Foods Company. The family moved to Rapid City in 1951, and Norm purchased and was involved in several businesses in the area including Wellman Cleaners, Hi Hat Cleaners, the Bel-Aire Motel, Mountain Goat Sports, Stormin "Norm's" in Sturgis, Black Hills Gold Discount, Casa Real and several businesses at the Rushmore Mall, including the "Gold" Company. Survivors include his longtime companion, Mary Keck; daughters, Cheryl Ruggeri and her husband, Paul Gillings, and Tracy Bode and her husband, Rich; and sons, Kim Gary and his wife, Barb, and Kirk Gary, all of Rapid City; grandchildren, Angelo Ruggeri, Tonya Walters, Jason Gary, Shane Gary, Caitlin Lindberg, Tyler Gary, Tara Gary and Chris Eichers; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Gary; and son-in-law, Tony Ruggeri. A memorial visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. A memorial gathering, with a luncheon, will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 11, at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn. Private family services and inurnment will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Rapid City Club for Boys
