Odean Theodore Olson passed away March 5 ^th , 2020 at his home in Rapid City, SD at the age of 83.  Private family memorial services will be held 10:30am Saturday, September 26, 2020.  Rude's Funeral Home will be live streaming the service on Rude's Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 10:30am.

Odean Theodore Olson was born September 1, 1936 in Elk Point, SD, to Theodore and Agnes Olson. He spent his early years in Elk Point working on the family farm and attended Elk Point High school, where he graduated in 1954.  Odean went on to attend South Dakota State University, majoring in Agriculture where he met the love of his life, Ardys Ruth and they were married November 11, 1956.

He was a member of the ROTC and quite the marksman. He enlisted in the Army in service to our great country and was stationed in Niagara Falls, NY, where they welcomed their first son, Allen Dean followed by Michael John. Soon after, Odean retired from military duty and moved back to South Dakota settling in Kadoka, SD, where they rejoiced in the birth of their third son, Mark Douglas.

Odean began his career with the SD Department of Transportation in Kadoka and soon after relocated to Pierre, SD, where he resided for many years, welcoming four more children, Troy James, Sharleen Roxanne, Melinda Ranee and Sara Jean.

Odean was a hard worker always providing for his family by working multiple jobs. He wore many hats over the years and had a passion for home remodeling.  Refurbishing many homes throughout his life, from the smallest of projects to the biggest of gut jobs.

He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God for many years and faithful to his Savior until the end.

Odean is survived by his children, Michael John of Acworth, GA, Mark (Deb) of Elizabeth, CO, Troy (Kazumi Asato) of Okinawa, Japan, Sharleen Schreter (Jeff) of Rapid City, SD, Mindi Tollefson (Mike) of Green River, WY and Sara Weiss (Dave) of Pierre, SD; several grandchildren, Courtney (Heidi), Doug (Meagan), Brad, Mark (Yumiko), Eric; Michelle Sara, Alex, Amber, Jasmine (Marshall), Ashley and Ryan, Mya and Mason, Austin, Michelle and Ian and several great-grandchildren; Blayne, Michael, Tatum, Arleigh Mae, Rayden and Blayr.

Odean was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Agnes Olson; his beautiful wife, Ardys Ruth; his son, Allen Dean and great grandson, Landon Olson.
