Rapid City – Orwayne Herbert Holst, 82, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, April 10, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Orwayne was born in Red Wing, Minnesota to Herbert and Sylvia Holst on September 29, 1933. He was the second born out of four children and grew up on the family farm. He graduated from high school in Goodhue, Minnesota and then went on to serve two years in the United States Army where he received his nickname "Bud". Following his honorable discharge from the Army he returned to Minnesota where he found his lifelong work in collections.
Bud and Karen Holst were united in marriage on August 19, 1964 in Rapid City, SD. They both owned and operated Western Account Service through retirement. Bud was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church. He loved fishing, camping, reading, working on cars, spending time with friends and relatives and especially loved his two grandsons. Bud always loved the lake which is where he could relax on the beach.
He will truly be missed by all. He is survived and missed by his wife, Karen Holst; and sons Glenn Holst and David Holst, grandsons Jacob and Dylan Holst, and daughter-in-law Ann Marie Holst all of Rapid City; his sister Carol Zemke, Cottage Grove, MN; his brother Curt Holst, Windsor, CO; brother and sister-in-law Lowell and Ann Latimer, Minot, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Berton Holst.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 20 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, with Chaplain [Ret] Herb B. Cleveland officiating.
Inurnment will take place on Friday April 22 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
