Sean Patrick McPherson, 47, of Rapid City, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Regional Health Home and Hospice, surrounded by his wife and all his children.

He was born to Bill and Carol (McGrath) McPherson on November 23, 1970, in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Sean spent his early years with his family following his father's Naval career. After his father's retirement, the family settled in Newton, Kansas.

Sean married his high school sweetheart, Kristin Landreth, in the Spring of 1990. They traveled the country for Sean's Naval career throughout the 90's.

After Sean's Naval service, the family moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, where Sean worked for Intel Corporation. During his time in New Mexico, Sean found his salvation through the guidance of Pastor Chip Garrison and Pastor Jim Comfort. Shortly thereafter he felt the call into the ministry.

Sean's call to ministry lead he and his family to serve in South Dakota. Over 18 years Sean ministered as an associate at New Hope Family Church in Sioux Falls, as Senior Pastor at Harvest Community Church in Mitchell, and finally as Senior Pastor at Real Life Church of the Nazarene in Rapid City, South Dakota. Sean's favorite saying was "I love my church!" and he served with all his heart.

In addition to serving his church and church family, God directed Sean towards service in the South Dakota State Legislature. Sean was honored to be elected as a Representative to the South Dakota House in the fall of 2016. Sean served the people of District 32 with passion and joy that was evident to anyone who spent time with him.

Sean is survived by his wife Kristin; his four children: Weston (Katy), Jordyn, Trinity and Jason. He is also survived by his daughter in love, Katy, and his two beautiful grandchildren, Thad Victor and Briar Jo, all of Rapid City; his parents, Carol and Bill, of Bolivar, TN; his brothers Bill (Donna), of Jackson, MI, Steve (Teresa), of Memphis, TN, Curtis (Kay), of Middleton, TN, and Jeff, of Colorado City, CO, and his grandmother Eleanor McGrath, of Grand Junction, CO.

Sean was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arnold and Elsie McPherson and Robert McGrath, and brothers Andrew McPherson and Anthony McPherson.
