Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Joanne Weber 90 of Rapid City passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

Mom was born November 23, 1932, in Woonsocket, South Dakota to Dennis & Marie (McCoy) Magirl. When she was 14, she moved with her parents to Rapid City, leaving the farm in Woonsocket.  Shortly after their arrival in Rapid City, one of the nuns discovered her talent and love of the organ/piano and asked her to play during a bishop's funeral.  That started over 65 years of playing organ and piano at the Cathedral – first at Immaculate Conception Church and then at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.  She played for every bishop and priest ordination and most every Sunday at Mass until her retirement.  She also helped to make weddings and funerals beautiful over the years as well – way too many to count.

She attended Cathedral High School, graduating from there in 1951.  She attended National School of Business, graduating with a degree in Bookkeeping.  She started working at Knecht Lumber after college, working there for many years.

On February 7, 1953, she married Lloyd Lawrence Weber in Rapid City. To this union 4 children were born Janice, Sharon, Michael, and Robert.  Mom stayed at home to raise her children.  She was a true champion for her children and grandchildren, attending as many activities as she could throughout the years. She started working at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Nursing Administration in 1979.  She was named Employee of the Year in 1991 and retired after 32 years in December 2011.

Mom sold her house in 2015 and moved to a Senior Living Apartment.  She remained there until she needed more care and died surrounded by her family in her apartment at The Village at Skyline Pines.  We are so very grateful to the staff for their excellent and tender care of our mother.

Visitation will be 6-7pm Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with recitation of the Rosary starting at 7pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Saturday, August 26 at the church, with Fr. Matt Fallgren as celebrant. Burial will follow the luncheon in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City. Online condolences can be left at www.osheimschmidt.com.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Kevin) Sandmeier and their children Jenny (Josh) Schweppe, Chris (Steph) Sandmeier; son Michael (Angela) Weber and their children Emily (Cedric) Williams, Ben (Šárka) Weber; son Robert (Susan) Weber and their children Kelsey (Steve) Weber Blair, Jake (Laura) Weber, Rob Weber; son-in-law Wayne Bunge and his children Amanda Bunge, Jason (Kylee) Bunge, Ryan (Jen) Bunge, and 18 great-grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, daughter Jan Bunge, parents, sisters Rosalie (Harold) Carlin, Marion (Dee) Clifton.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Humane Society of the Black Hills, to honor the love she had for her dogs.
