Obituary

Listen to Obituary

July 10, 2026-Patricia Deeg (Pat) passed away peacefully in her home with her daughters.

Born and raised in Rapid City, SD. Pat completed Nurses training at St John’s McNamara School of Nursing. Throughout her life she held great pride to have been a Registered Nurse, in particular her time as a surgical nurse for Shriners Hospital where she was recognized by the Chief of Surgery for “Outstanding work and feel for the instrument table”.

She met her husband Larry while in nurses training and he was at the School of Mines. After completing their degrees, they married and took off to explore the world. Following their careers they lived coast to coast across the United States. After their daughters Karin and Kristin were born, the family journeys instilled in the girls a strong curiosity and sense of adventure. She often talked of time in the San Francisco Bay area, canoeing and camping on the Russian River, exploring the beaches near Monterey Bay and Clam Chowder at Jenner by the Sea. Back to the Midwest she enjoyed the rolling hills of northern Missouri then it was off to the sandy beaches of Georgia, the woods of Pennsylvania and trips overseas. She and Larry retired back home in Rapid.

Pat cherished the friendships she made along the way and remained in touch with folks far and wide. Her favorite place, however, was back home in the Black Hills sitting next to Rapid Creek “having an orange” and visiting with friends. She loved the beauty of colorful flowers, plants and wildlife in the garden, antiques and all things sweet. Pat was a generous soul; rarely did a visitor leave without a bloom, a potted plant, cake or bag of cookies she pressed into their hands.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Vince and Edna Boland as well as her husband Larry C Deeg. She is survived by her daughters, Kristin Regan, Karin Wommack (Eddie) and grandchildren Sarah and Vince Wommack.

Services will be held at Osheim & Schmidt on Thursday, July 16. There will be a short visitation at 12:30, followed by memorial at 1:30 then 2:45 graveside at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Joseph’s Indian School stjo.org/flowers
