RAPID CITY- Patricia Rosina "Pat" Kwietniewski, 79, died at home on Monday, 18th March 2013. She was born on 4th February 1934 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England to Arthur F. and Alice M. (Leach) Wilkes. Pat was married on 10th October 1953 to a U.S. serviceman Jerzy Kwietniewski at St. Catherine's Parish Church at The Leigh, Gloucestershire, England. They first met at a dance at Cheltenham Town Hall frequented by U.S. service personnel stationed at nearby Brize Norton, Oxfordshire. Pat then moved to the United States in 1955/56 but returned to England in the 1960's when they were stationed at Bentwaters Air Force Base in Suffolk. She was a keen bowling player in her earlier years and leaves behind many, many friends in Rapid City and beyond. Pat recently retired from over 50 years of employment with Boyds (formally Mills) Drug Store at Baken Park. She is survived by one brother: John Wilkes, Abbey Way, Great Malvern, Worcestershire, England; one sister: Brenda Gilbert, Azalea Park, Yate, England; nephews: Richard Gilbert, Kenneth Pendry, Timothy Gilbert, Anthony Wilkes, Stuart Wilkes, Nicholas Wilkes and niece Linda Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerzy Kwietniewski and sister Jean Pendry. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, 28th March 2013 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, 29th March at the funeral home with Rev. Herb B. Cleveland officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
