IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul G.
Bordeaux
August 5, 1957 – March 17, 2025
Paul G. Bordeaux, who left us peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025 at his home in Rapid City. Paul was born on August 5, 1957, in Pueblo, Colorado, and was raised on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. From a young age, Paul showed resilience in the face of challenges, including his battle with rheumatic fever in sixth grade, which led to heart problems that would stay with him throughout his life.
Paul graduated from St. Francis Indian School in South Dakota and went on to have a dedicated career with the Indian Health Service. His journey began in Rosebud, where he worked in the lab and x-ray department for two years. He later transferred to Ft. Yates, North Dakota, where he spent over 30 years, not including a five year posting in Rapid City in between, serving his community and the surrounding areas. Paul's dedication to his work was matched by his love for the people he served, and he developed many lasting friendships during his time in Ft. Yates. He was well-known for his humor, and lighthearted spirit, particularly for his signature "Happy Birthday" renditions sung in the style of Elvis over the hospital PA system.
After 40 years with the Indian Health Service, Paul relocated back to Rapid City to be closer to his family, where he continued to be a source of joy and laughter for all who knew him.
During his free time, Paul also enjoyed golf, motorcycles, pool, darts and just enjoying time with those he loved. His humor, wit, infectious laughter and the light he brought will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Paul is survived by his daughters, Shareen Cutler and Lacey Arthur (Justin); his brothers, Richard Bordeaux and Dallas Chief Eagle; his sisters, Rhonda Leneaugh, Theresa Bordeaux, and Tekakwitha Herman (Robert); and numerous other loving family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Jerome Bordeaux Chief Eagle and Shirley Bennett Bordeaux; his sister, Sheela Farmer, an infant sister, Kathleen Bordeaux; and his aunt, Gloria Chief Eagle.
