Obituary

Paul R. Lindstrom, 67, Sturgis, passed away Saturday August 3, 2024 at Monument Health Hospice House.

Paul was born April 8, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Morris & Joyce (Godel) Lindstrom. Paul was the 3rd of 4 children growing up in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. After high school, Paul met the love of his life, Ruth (Ellefson). In 1979, the couple was married at Faith Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids and later moved to Hay Springs, Nebraska. Paul worked for Burlington Northern Railroad during his time in Hay Springs all while attending real estate school. Paul & Ruth later moved to Sturgis where he learned the ropes of real estate working for Dale Ferguson. In 1985 Paul opened Real Estate Services. Paul operated his company for close to 30 years! In this time, Paul & Ruth welcomed their three children, Jennie, Jodi & Roger. The family of 5 was active in the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, he loved taking his kids skiing at Terry Peak, watching Twins baseball and cheering for the Vikings on Sunday. He was always up for a drive in his fancy little Porsche! Paul's love for reading was unmatched, when at home you'd most likely find him reading a new novel.

Paul was always ready to learn new things. During his real estate career, he obtained his pilot's license through the Bear Butte Flying club in Sturgis and flew many hours in his shared Cessna. One of his best memories is loading up the family and flying to Wall, SD for breakfast. The mayor happened to be at the Wall airport and offered the family his VW bug to drive around for the morning.

Throughout his time in Sturgis, Paul filled the position of Sturgis Jaycees president, he served as an elder & deacon at First Presbyterian Church, and helped Big Brothers/Big Sister of the Black Hills. Paul was very involved with the Cornerstone Rescue center often providing food, clothing and first aid materials.

As any Sturgis resident, the busiest month is August because of the Sturgis Motorcycle rally. Paul quickly took a liking to Harley Davidson and owned several Harleys over the years. He loved to be on his bike and more recently switched from Harleys to one of his most prized possessions, his Indian Motorcycle.

Paul is survived by his children Jennie Day (Newell, SD); Jodi Lindstrom (Rapid City, SD); Roger Lindstrom (Chicago, Ill); their mother, Ruth; grandchildren Adam, Ryan, Jack, and Beckham; brother Joel (Barbara Kaufman) Lindstrom (Pine River, MN); his sister Miriam (Dave) Erickson (Coon Rapids, MN); sister in law Shari Lindstrom (Blaine, MN); one aunt Myrna Super (Saint Paul, MN); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Paul is also survived by his very special friend of many years Patricia Viator; her daughter Skye (Lukas) Viator and their children, whom Paul always acknowledged as his own grandchildren, Jaxson, Abel and Esme.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Morris & Joyce and brother David Lindstrom.

A service for Paul will be held at LifeSpring Wesleyan Church in Sturgis Saturday, August 31st @ 11am followed by a light luncheon.
