Paul E. Lovell, 80, died at the VA Medical Center in Hot Springs on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022. Paul was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on August 20, 1942 and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. He joined the United States Army in 1964 and after four years of service, left the Army in 1968. Paul was a graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines and made his career as an electrical engineer. He enjoyed the outdoors camping, fishing and hunting. He also was proud to serve as a fourth degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his sister, Kay Smallwood (Scott), nieces Jody D. (Mark) Painter, Tammra A. (Daniel) Kruse, Stephanie D. (John) Barton, Sherrie A. (Mike) Rose, Julie M. (Bob) Kirkham, Pamela M. Smallwood and nephews Ronald A. (Tammy) Crecelius, Brian E. (Connie) Crecelius, and numerous other great nieces, nephews and friends. His parents Edward A. Lovell and Helen Marie Lovell (Quigg) preceded him in death. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 16, from 5-6 pm, with a Vigil at 6 pm, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4500 Jackson Blvd. Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 am on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Blessed Sacrament Church, followed by a luncheon. Pallbearers will be his fellow Knights of Columbus, with honorary pallbearers being his nephews; Ronald A. Crecelius, Brian E. Crecelius, Shane A. Crecelius, Chase A. Crecelius, Jacob D. Crecelius and Daniel R. Kruse. Burial, with military honors rendered by the US Army Reserve National Guard and VFW Post 1273, will be at 10 am on Monday, Sept. 19, at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
