Obituary

Pearlene Ann Jongeling, 75 years young, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, after battling COPD for almost 25 years.

She was born on December 7, 1949 to Pearl E. (Reed) and Alonzo K. Magill in Houston, Texas.

Pearlene's parents moved back to the Nebraska and Sioux Falls area when she was still a baby.  Her biological father passed away in 1967 while she was a young lady.  Pearl found love again with Ralph B. Sunde who also adopted Pearlene.

She attended and graduated from Washington High School in 1968.  Pearlene's best friend invited her to go out on a blind date and that's how she met the love of her life, David.  Also, it just so happens that Pearlene's best girlfriend was married to David's best friend from high school.  She and David married on June 1,1974.  Together they shared 50 years of marriage.

Pearlene took EMT classes, worked at Sioux Valley Hospital, and later worked at a nursing home and a home healthcare facility.  She devoted her life to her family, especially her two sons and was very active in their schooling all the way through high school.  She raised two very great kids that she was very proud of; Reed Jongeling of Rapid City and Nathan Jongeling of Omaha, NE.

Nathan has one son, Creighton Jongeling, who is graduating high school this spring.  She was also very proud of her only grandson.

Her mother passed away in 1976 and her father passed away in 2013. Her biological father passed away in 1967.

Pearlene is survived by her husband, David Jongeling, two sons; Reed Jongeling (Hailey Brewer) and Nathan Jongeling (Ginger Cinnamon-Valles) and her sister Deloris "Dee Dee" Klein who lives in Sioux Falls and of course her grandson.

Her mother passed away in 1976 and her father passed away in 2013.  Her biological father passed away in 1967.

We are all going to miss her so much!
