Rapid City – Phillip "Phil" Streeter, 61, died Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice House.
Phillip Edward Streeter was born July 4, 1960 at San Jose, California to James Eugene and Edwina Leah [Gabert] Streeter. He grew up in Huron, SD and the family later moved to Lake Andes, SD where he graduated from high school. He then attended Mitchell Vo Technical School in Mitchell, SD and received his culinary degree. Phil then worked for the Little River Saw Mill in Piedmont for many years and then worked at the Holiday Inn in Spearfish for several years. From there he became employed with Black Hills Works, and this is where he met his future wife, Carla Ann. They were married September 20, 2003 in Rapid City, SD. Phil then worked at Herbergers in the Rushmore Mall in Rapid City where he was the warehouse manager. He then became employed with Northwestern Engineering and then back to Black Hills Works where he became a direct support professional where he taught life skills, and took great pride in doing so.
He loved the great outdoors and lived it. He loved to rock climb, ice climb, bike, pan for gold, hike, camp, and snow shoe; where his first date with Carla was snow shoeing.
Phil is survived by his wife: Carla Streeter of Rapid City; one son: Ricky [Josie] Streeter of Waukesha, WI; one daughter: Lea Messick of Sullivan, WI; one brother: Tim Streeter of Grand Forks, ND; eight grandchildren; and step-father: George Whitaker of Piedmont.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Erin Van Dam; one sister: Colleen Driscoll; all his grandparents; and parents-in-law: Vernon and Audrey Van Dam.
Public visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
