Phyllis M. Krebs, 100, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2018, at Prairie Hills Nursing Home.
She was born in Rapid City on February 10, 1918, to Ray and Zilda (Otto) Boyd. A graduate of Rapid City High School and National College of Business, she accepted a position in Washington, D.C. in the United States War Department. Upon returning to Rapid City, she met and married Mickey Krebs. They had four children: Raymond, Debora, Donald, and Michael.
Phyllis was an artist. She enjoyed gifting her beautiful creations of: painted china, holiday wreaths, greeting cards, and afghans to family and friends. She loved collecting recipes and excelled in cooking, baking and gardening. Her baked goods were phenomenal and revered at reunions, potlucks, school and church gatherings. She delighted in growing and sharing extraordinary African Violets!
Phyllis is survived by her children: Ray Krebs, Deb Krebs, Don (Nancy) Krebs, Mike (Kathy) Krebs; grandchildren: Lisa Krebs, Eric Krebs, Mistie (Jason) Miller, Marcie Hunt, Michael Krebs and Nicole Krebs and four great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Elaine Whalen and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Zilda Boyd, her sister, Helen Boyd and her husband, Mickey Krebs in 1995.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.
Her Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial will be established to Blessed Sacrament Church and Youth & Family Services.
