RAPID CITY -- Phyllis Morrison Murner, 93, Rapid City, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, in Rapid City. Phyllis was born on Oct. 29, 1917, in Viborg. She was one of 11 children born to Emma Christensen Morrison and Walter Morrison. Phyllis lived her childhood in Viborg until she met and married LeRoy Murner of Murdo. Phyllis and LeRoy moved to Rapid City where they lived most of their lives. Phyllis loved animals of all types and it was not unlikely for her to have numerous creatures on her deck waiting for a handout. Later in life she enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Phyllis knew she was all heart. Phyllis is survived by her son, Gary Murner, Rapid City; her grandson, Scott Murner, Hermosa; and her great-granddaughter, Kara Murner, Rapid City. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Murner; her grandson, Michael Murner; and her last remaining sibling, Ralph Morrison. At her request there will be no services and her body will be cremated. Her final resting place will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Rapid City.
