Obituary

RAPID CITY- Phyllis Theresa Reiser, 93, died July 25, 2018.

Phyllis was born on April 2, 1925, in Iroquois, SD, to John and Marie (Brandrup) Redl. She grew up in Deadwood, SD. After graduating from high school, she moved to Long Beach, CA and was a Rosie the Riveter during WWII. Phyllis then came back to Deadwood, married Charles Reiser, was blessed with six children, and moved to Rapid City in the early 60's.

Her family enjoyed her stories and learned of her adventurous spirit from the time spent as Rosie the Riveter, to traveling across the country on a motorcycle for her honeymoon, and the challenges and accomplishments of raising 6 children. She was their driving force to the very end and will always be. She enjoyed working at Reptile Gardens as a bookkeeper for many years where they made her feel a part of their family. She loved her job so much she reluctantly retired at the age of 85. Phyllis enjoyed spending all of her free time with her family, children, and grandchildren. One of her special joys was watching her grandchildren participate in any and all of their activities.  Phyllis also loved reading and spending time in the Black Hills. Her family was very blessed and were lucky enough to be surrounded by her love and spirit for 93 amazing years!

She is survived by three sons: Bill (Amy) Reiser, Wagner, SD; Chuck Reiser, Rapid City; Joe (Deanne) Reiser, Phoenix, AZ; two daughters: Rita Patterson, Des Moines, IA; Becky (Tom) Meade, Des Moines, IA; one sister, Mary Ann Moorhead, Winner, SD; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Judy McKeon, three brothers: Donny Redl, Bill Redl, and Jack Redl.

A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, at St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church.

Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, at the church with Rev. Kerry Prendiville presiding.

Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Deadwood.
