Ralph Ruben Zoller, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on June 2, 2024. Ralph was born January 21, 1933, to William and Emma Zoller in Linton ND. He had three sisters, Adelle, Elenor, and Yvonne, and two brothers Bill and Duane and told his children wonderful stories about growing up. Ralph was a devoted husband to his wife, Julia Elizabeth Rhoades. They were the first couple to be married at the new First Presbyterian Church building on October 31, 1953, in Rapid City, South Dakota and he volunteered many hours at the church. He and Judy worked hard making a better life for their family. He had three children, Scott (Oriana Kuypers Zoller), Luanne (Geri Marz), and Todd, and two grandchildren, Jake Zoller (deceased) and Alex Zoller. Ralph started his career in the US Army in 1954 and upon his honorable discharge he worked full time at the Army National Guard Aviation Support Facility until his retirement. He loved the camaraderie of his fellow soldiers and was a great advocate for them. Ralph and Judy were in the motel business and owned the Garden Cottages Motel for several years. Ralph was also a successful landscaper and there are many homeowners that loved the artistry he brought to their landscaping. Our father was a bit of a prankster, just ask his oldest son about the "brownie" incident. In his teens he was on Coach Cobb's state championship cross country team, and he loved helping his teenage daughter learn how to run and "get out of the starting blocks." He helped his youngest son and daughter-in-law Amy Larson build their first home. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, his brothers, and grandson Jake Zoller. Ralph's services will be held at Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home on June 10, 2024, at 1:00 pm, followed by military graveyard services at Black Hills National Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
