Box Elder - Raymon O'Quinn Slaughter Jr passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in Rockford, MI, at the age of 52.
Raymon is survived by his parents: Raymon (Katherine) of Provencal, LA, and Carol (Henry) Deblieux of Millers Creek, NC. his children: Patrick (Renae), Abigail and Lucy Slaughter; his siblings: Heath (Anna) Slaughter, Derrek (Crystal) Slaughter, Alisha (Joey) Allen and Constance (Monty) Hendrix and Candise Escalante and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents: William and Irene Carter and Woodrow and Sybil Slaughter, all from Louisiana.
Raymon was born on September 21, 1970, in Shreveport, LA to Raymon Slaughter Sr and Carol Deblieux (nee Carter). He graduated Bishop Sullivan High School in Baton Rouge in 1988. He went on to join the Louisiana National Guard,1990, serving for 9 years as a Russian Interrogator after completing the Defense Language Institute at the Presidio of Monteray, CA. During his service, he had the honor and privilege of hosting a delegation from Uzbekstan, serving as interpreter. He completed his BS in Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University in 1997. He was employed by The Trane Company at the time of his passing. While studying at DLI, he met and married his former wife Denise Stansbury m.1991 - 2013. They had three beautiful children together: Patrick, Abigail and Lucy. His children remember him as a father who loved his family very much. Ray married Joyce Slaughter m 2016 – 2021, residing in Michigan with her son, Ian Kaiser. He enjoyed exploring the US, visiting all of the national parks.
We will all miss him very much.
The funeral is scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, September 11, 2023 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Visiting hours will start at 9:00 am. Rev. Chris Baesler will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Raymon's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity or towards his daughters' college fund, collecting at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
