Richard Baumann, age 74, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away peacefully in his home on July 21, 2024. Rich was born on June 27, 1950, in Peoria, Illinois. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and later pursued his passion for gemology, becoming a certified Gemologist through the Gemological Institute of America.
Rich was a cornerstone of the Rapid City community, known for his expertise as a jeweler and the proud owner of Neugebauer's Fine Jewelry since 1983. His dedication to his craft and his customers was unmatched, earning him respect throughout the jewelry industry. Rich served as a member of the Rotary Club and Jewelers of America, forming lasting friendships and contributing to his professional community.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rich's true joy in life came from his family. He is preceded in death by his first wife Terri Baumann, with whom he shared many cherished years and had two children, Emily and Michael. After Terri's passing, Richard found love again and married Barbara Baumann. Together they created a warm and loving home, welcoming Barbara's children, Angie and Madeline into the family. Rich was also a cherished papa to his seven grandchildren, Aidenn, Abigail, TaeLynn, Rowan, Avery, Everlie and Magnus.
Richard Baumann will be remembered for his warmth, integrity, and genuine kindness. He touched the lives of many as a friend, mentor, and confidant. His presence in our lives will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monument Health Cancer Care Institute or the Black Hills Children's Home, causes that were close to Rich's heart.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Baumann, his family Emily, Michael, Karlee, Angie, Madeline, Matthew and Brooke as well as Uncle Reuben Hoffman, and his adoring grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Victor Baumann, mother, Emma Viola Baumann, and his first wife Terri Baumann.
A funeral service will be held at Rimrock Church on Tuesday, July 30, at 10:30 am, followed by a celebration of Richard's life at Arrowhead Country Club at 4:30 pm. Your presence and memories shared are deeply appreciated by the family during this time of remembrance.
