RAPID CITY- Richard Halverson, 85, longtime Rapid City resident, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

He was born February 18, 1931 in Veblen, SD, the son of John & Hilda (Aadland) Halverson. He attended school at Veblen. Richard married Marilyn Sandquist on August 18, 1954. She preceded him in death in September of 1988. He was employed as a salesman by the Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Co. for a period of 30 plus years.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy (Paul) Halsrud; son, Gary Halverson, both of Rapid City; sister, Janice Harff, Osseo, MN; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers: James and Sherman Halverson and a sister, Mary Ann Watts.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Lahammer officiating.

Private family inurnment will be at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
