Obituary

Robert D. Galbraith, 78, of Rapid City, was called to his final poker game on Thursday, Nov.22, 2012. He died of heart failure at RCRH surrounded by his family. Bob was born Aug. 16, 1934, to Raymond and Charlotte (Schultz) Galbraith. He was raised along with his four brothers in Rapid City. Bob worked hard his whole life and he started working at a very young age selling newspapers. If he ran fast enough, he could get the best corner to sell more papers. He later worked at Swanders Bakery, where his dad worked. It was there he met his cute little red-head, Rosie. They were married in August of the next year. He served in the Army from 1957-1959. They welcomed their daughters, Sandy in 1960 and Jeri in 1961. Bob and Rosie celebrated their 59th anniversary this year. Bob worked at the Linoleum Center in the early years of their marriage, and then found his passion. He started selling real estate with Flack-Hoffman. He always could find the perfect "cream puff" house for anyone and was a great people person. Bob was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion and National Assn. of Realtors. Survivors include his wife, Rosie; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Shawn Nielsen and Jeri and Al Barry; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Pauline, Jerry and Linda, Ron and Mary Ellen and Don and Carolyn; his granddaughters, Shellie Furchner, Stacey and Craig Wehrle and Shari and Chad Dahlke; his grandsons Brian and Kevin Barry and his great-grandchildren Bailey Williams, Joseph Dahlke and Lux Wehrle, all of Rapid City. Bob was also survived by many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, including his best friend, Buddy Neigel. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister and a great-granddaughter. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Michel Mulloy presiding. He will be buried, with full military honors rendered by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the South Dakota Army Reserve National Guard, at 1:30 pm Thursday at Black Hills National Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
