Robert "Bob" Jack
Williams
April 26, 1929 – February 4, 2026
On Wednesday February 4th, 2026, Robert Jack Williams of Rapid City, died at the age of 96. He was born on April 26, 1929, in Nevada City, California, to Jack and Elizabeth (Shaw) Williams and grew up in Nevada City. He graduated from San Diego City College with a degree in Business.
Bob enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948, honorably discharged in 1952 as a quartermaster second class.
While Bob’s Navy boat was docked in San Diego, he and several Seamen friends went to a USO dance. He met a young Nursing student, Margaret Dodge at the dance and, it was meant to be. Robert and Margaret were married in Vallejo, California in 1951 and settled into San Diego. They quickly grew to a family of five a few years later, first was son Rob and then sixteen months later twins, Mark and Marcy.
Robert had a 35-year career with General Dynamics/Convair as Aircraft parts Logistic Manager. He kept airplanes airworthy by procuring and supplying parts to airplanes all over the world.
Robert and Margaret were native Californians. They loved growing roses, and various fruit trees in their yard. In 2005 they made the decision to move from sunny California to Rapid City, South Dakota in order to be closer to their daughter, Marcy, and her family.
Bob and Margaret faithfully participated in their local church, Bible studies and prayer groups over the years.
Robert is survived by two sons; Rob Williams, of San Diego and Mark (Kathy) Williams of El Cajon CA, his daughter, Marcy (Royce) Shields of Rapid City, 6 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, parents, five siblings and a granddaughter.
