RAPID CITY- Robert Louis Braunstein died surrounded by his family on Friday, November 30th 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Robert "Brownie" was born on June 13th 1925, in Aberdeen South Dakota to Sylvester and Barbara Braunstein. Robert served our country in the US Navy during World War II. He fell in love and married Doris Brown in 1941. Together they raised 3 childern; Diane Kissinger of Chicago, IL, Gail (Hans) Boettcher of Weiser, ID, Roger (Lana) Braunstein of Rapid City, SD. In 1946 he began a 40 plus year career with MDU that took him from North Dakota, to Wyoming and finally to Rapid City. After losing Doris in 1994, he found the second love of his life in Jacqueline Pelkey of Rapid City SD. The two were married in 1997. They spent the remainder of his life living in both Mesa, AZ and Rapid City, SD. Robert was survived by his wife Jacqueline "Jacque", his three children and he was a loving grandfather "Poppy" to 16. He also had numerous great grandchildren. Brownie loved to golf, play cards, travel, spend time with friends and family and just enjoy life. He was known for his kindness, patience, and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family alike. A celebration of his life with be held at a later time.
