Rapid City- Robert L. Butt, 81, died Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Robert Leroy Butt was born on December 13, 1930 to Nels Dale and Lillie Sophie (Monson) Butt at Presho, SD. This is the area that Bob called home. He graduated from Presho High School in 1940. After graduating he served in the United States Army. Bob received several service medals including the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star and was honorably discharged in 1953. After returning home he worked construction for several years before becoming employed with Cenex. Bob worked and managed the Cenex in Presho for 15 years. He married Jennie Lee Escott on February 19, 1980 in Denver, CO. After Bob left Cenex he became employed with the State Highway Department where he worked for several years before retiring. Bob also worked with Jennie running Jen & Bob's Bar in Presho for several years. They moved to Rapid City in 2003. Jennie passed away February 12, 2005 and Bob continued to live in Rapid City until failing health brought on a change in his residence. He then resided at Ft Meade for a short time and eventually moved to Belle Fourche. Bob was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Survivors include four step-daughters: Debbie (Dean) Hartford of Piedmont, SD; Marti (Jeff) Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; Deena (Todd) Taylor of Presho, SD and Tracey Imsland of San Juan Capistrano, CA; one brother, Norman (Mary) Butt of Bull Head City, AZ; one sister: Nona Kay (Duane) Olson of Platte, SD; one sister-in-law, Iola Butt of Rapid City, SD; and three grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jennie and one brother, Richard. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Monday, November 26 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard with funeral service to be held at 10:00 am with Chaplain [Ret.] Herb B. Cleveland officiating. Burial will be 12:00 noon at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD with full Military Honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post #1273 and South Dakota Army National Guard.
