BLACK HAWK- Robert L. "Bob" Sattler, 63, died on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Bob had been suffering for years with hypertension along with other health issues. The good Lord sent down an angel to bring Bob home to Him to bring to an end his suffering. Bob was born on May 4, 1950 in Rapid City to Edward and Julia (McGovern) Sattler. Before he fell ill, Bob spent a majority of his time with his family and friends. He loved doing many outdoor activities. Some of his favorite things to do with family and friends were camping and taking family vacations to Glacier National Park. He always wanted to make it to Alaska but never got the chance. Bob and his son, Chris would often go fishing at Orman Dam. They also loved to hunt deer, pheasant and geese. Bob and Chris also shared the love of rebuilding cars. They spent countless days working to fix them up and always did a fantastic job. Bob also loved hiking. One of his favorite places to go hiking was Harney Peak. He would always comment on how beautiful it was up there and how the outdoors was his church. Bob was a magnificent father and an even better grandfather. He positively changed the lives of his family, friends, and everyone he knew. He was always going above and beyond to help people in their time of need. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Sattler, his mother Julia May McGovern and two brothers: Rick and Eddie. In his passing he left behind his wife of 24 years, Jane Meyer, Black Hawk; brother, Gary Sattler, Rapid City; sister, Susan Sharp; six children: Chris (Tina) Sattler, Rapid City; Travis Sattler, Rapid City; Troy Sattler, Utah; Sarah Meyer, Black Hawk; Jason Meyer, Black Hawk; and Michael Uecker, Rapid City; and numerous grandchildren. He did not get the chance to know all of his grandchildren but was a fantastic grandfather to the ones who were fortunate enough to know him: Shayla, Karla, Dominick, (big) Shayla, and Kylee. He will be remembered and deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him. Visitation will be on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Dwight Stensgaard officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
