Robert Lee Williams, 78 of Rapid City died Sunday, February 13, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen and his parents Ralph O. & Dora Williams. Robert was born and spent his childhood in Rapid City. He graduated from SDSU Pharmacy School and spent a year of apprenticeship at Peterson's Drug in Rapid City. Bob married his valentine Helen A. Hayes and served two years at Ft. Lewis, Washington to complete his ROTC obligations. He and Helen, with son Bob & daughter Sue moved back to Rapid City where son John & daughter Jean were born. Bob worked many years in the pharmacy at R.C. Medical Center. During these years he invented a drug dispensing system for hospitals and patented all of the components. After leaving the pharmacy in 1982, he labored full time developing and overseeing the construction of cabinets and marketing the first installations of the Meditrol system. In 1994 he sold the company to Owen Healthcare in Houston, Texas. Two years later the business was sold to Cardinal Heathcare. At present, in many hospitals across the nation, Bobs system is in place for the distribution of pharmaceuticals. Bob is remembered as a loving son, spouse, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a kind and brilliant man. He and Helen were generous contributors to many organizations for civic welfare. He is survived by his four children: Bob (Glenda) and his daughter Mandy of Virginia, Sue Brinkman and her daughter Nichole (Terry) Meyers and great granddaughters Morgan and Leah of California and her son Brett (Madge) McManigal and their children Allison and Trevor of Rapid City, John (Dena) and their daughter Wendy Lamborne and great granddaughter Lyric and their son Walker of Denver, Colorado, Jean Smith (Jerry Munson) of Rapid City and her son Andrew (Amanda) of California. Bob is also survived by a brother, Ralph (Evelyn) Williams of Rapid City. Viewing for family and friends will take place on Thursday, February 17 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services for Robert will be held Friday, February 18 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rapid City, at 10:00am, with Rev. Bob Jacobs and Rev. Dr. Dena Williams, presiding. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. There will be a time of refreshment and fellowship at the church following internment. Memorials may be made to Bobs favorite charities: Westminster Presbyterian Church & The Alzheimers Association.
