Robert "Bob" Melvin Pietz, 71, of Rapid City, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held in the Summer of 2023.

Bob was born June 22, 1951 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Melvin and Violet (Hauck) Pietz. He worked during the Summer of his high school years on his uncle's farm. He really enjoyed farming and being outdoors. After graduation from Aberdeen Central High School in 1969, he attended truck driving school in Sioux Falls and he trucked for various trucking companies including Universal Transport and Hills Materials in Rapid City, retiring in 2017.

Bob loved hunting and fishing with his dad, brother and brother-in-law. He was a big motorcycle enthusiast (owning several) and he attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with friends for many years. He also enjoyed attending the sprint car races in Knoxville, Iowa with his dad and friends for many years. In 2004 he had the opportunity to attend a Nascar Race in Kansas City with his dad, sister and brother-in-law. For many years Bob and his dad enjoyed watching races together on TV every Sunday.

Bob always enjoyed family gatherings with his immediate family, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was loved by everybody he knew and will be greatly missed.

Bob is survived by his mother; Violet Pietz of Rapid City, sister; Bonnie (Jim) Horan of Rapid City, brothers; Richard (Brian Jorgensen) Pietz of Minneapolis, MN, and Tom (DeeAnna) Pietz of Rapid City.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Melvin.
