Robert "Sonny" O'Daniel, 87, died Friday, February 12, 2021 at Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City with his granddaughter Melissa O'Daniel at his side.

Inurnment has taken place at Black Hills National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Sonny was born June 12, 1933 in Redfield, South Dakota to James & Gladys (Utterbach) O'Daniel. He met the love of his life, Delores Mae McGaa and they were married for 67 wonderful years. Through this union three children were born: James B. O'Daniel, Timothy P. O'Daniel, and Robert Kelly O'Daniel.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and U.S. Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant (First Sergeant) after 25 years.

He is survived by his three sons: James, Timothy, and Kelly, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Sonny was preceded in death by his wife Delores and his parents.
